Pedigree

Poster Boy was born on the 26th of September 2014 so he shares a birthday with another famous Australian athlete – the marathon runner STEVE MONEGHETTI.

Whereas Steve was an athlete of endurance, Poster Boy’s forte was his blistering speed. That speed became evident in just his third lifetime start, with his final quarter in 26.8 seconds left a classy field of juveniles in his wake in the VICTORIAN YOUTHFUL STAKES.

His next three starts resulted in comfortable victories in a heat, SEMI FINAL and FINAL of the 2 YEAR OLD VIC BRED Series. Just two weeks after that Vic Bred win, POSTER BOY again produced a 26.5 second final quarter to demolish a smart bunch of colts in the Group Two TATLOW STAKES…the picket fence of wins now stood at six.

3 Year Old

The impeccably bred colt born of two North American parents in SOMEBEACHSOMEWHERE and theARTSPLACE mare ASTON VILLA, continued on his winning vein in his THREE YEAR OLD year with 8 victories including the prestigious $200,000 NSW DERBY, (last half and quarter in 53 secs and 26.3), the GROUP ONE VIC BRED FINAL, the GROUP THREE VICTORIAN SIRES CLASSIC (last quarter in 25.9) plus HEATS of the VICTORIAN DERBY (2nd in FINAL) and BREEDERS CROWN (3rd in FINAL).

4 Year Old

Many horses shine as 2 and 3 year olds but find that step up into the “BIG BOYS” company as four years beyond them. Well that wasn’t a step that Poster Boy tripped over as he handled it with ease. He set the MELTON Track ablaze on Australia Day 2019 when he trounced a super field that included Spankem and Im Pats Delight in the GROUP ONE 4yo BONANZA – rating a slick 1.52.8 over the 1720 meter journey. That victory was a warm up for the $200,000 CHARIOTS OF FIRE at MENANGLE just 3 weeks later.

POSTER BOY, with his regular pilot Chris Alford, really stamped himself that night as a genuine player in the “Big Time” of Harness Racing. His victory in 1.49.1 elevated him to elite company in the sub 1.50 Club. This marvellous victory entitled him to an invitation to Australasia’s Premier Sprint Race, the $1 million MIRACLE MILE.

Although he couldn’t out sprint the Purdon/Rasmussen pair of Spankem and The fixer, he did pick up $100,000 for his 1.48.2 piece of work – finishing ahead of Tiger Tara, Chase Auckland and The Field Marshall

POSTER BOY was being set for the 4 year old VICBRED and BREEDERS CROWN FINALS in July and August 2019, when he was stricken with a near life ending bout of pneumonia. After taking months to recover from this serious ailment, he returned to the MELTON racetrack on ANZAC DAY 2020 and cruised home in 54 seconds to record his 20th win. Two further wins followed in May 200 taking his career record to –

30 STARTS, 22 WINS, 7 PLACINGS
